This year marks the 54th anniversary of Earth Day, and what better way to celebrate than by going to our 3rd annual free Earth Day fair! It will be held on Saturday, April 20 from 10-1 behind Congregational Church at 949 Main Street in South Glastonbury. In the event of rain, it will be held inside the church. Our family friendly fair is co-sponsored by South Glastonbury Congregational Church and TALK. It will be a fun time for everyone, young and old!
Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22 in the United States and throughout the world. In some countries, it is celebrated on the first day of spring. Earth Day, which was first held on April 22, 1970, helps to raise public awareness of the importance of protecting Earth’s natural resources for future generations.

Each year our fair expands and becomes bigger and better. We will have a bake sale and continuous entertainment on the stage from music to dancing to storytelling. There will be a carnival for children with games and prizes as well as face painting and a photo booth.
Glastonbury Electronics Recycling will be there and will accept many items such as computers (except for computer screens), mobile phones, printers, stereo-related equipment, batteries (except for nickel cadmium batteries), various scrap metals and more.
There will also be electric cars, bicycles and e-bikes to look at and also a chance to talk with owners.
In the meantime, it’s easy to get involved in helping to protect our Earth. Here are some ways to reduce plastic consumption:
- Try not to purchase products sold in single-use plastic containers
- Bring reusable produce bags when purchasing produce
- Bring leftover containers to restaurants
- Say no to straws
- Stash utensils in your car and use them when ordering takeout food
We look forward to seeing you at our Earth Day fair on Saturday, April 20 from 10-1!
